Summer Season Wraps Up

Today marks the 24th (and last) morning of club races for the 2023/2024 summer season.

Congratulations to everyone who competed in club races & Championships throughout the season. We also welcomed a number of new members and their families during the season. We hope you have enjoyed the first of many years with the club.

Holding club races on a weekly basis takes a lot of work and I want to thank:

  • The Committee members, who dedicate a lot of voluntary time to effectively run the club;
  • Our Race Secretary and Competition Committee, who prepare the season program and undertake an enormous load of work throughout the season;
  • Our Learn to Swim Co-ordinator and Instructors who provide lessons and a pathway for swimmers to join our club in races;
  • Our Coaches, who do a wonderful job in preparing our swimmers for club and higher-level races;
  • Our Club Captains, Matthew Vicic and Ameena Abdelraheem, as well as others, who have also stood in and undertaken some of the roles on a weekly basis;
  • Our parents and families who attend club races and help in set up, race events and pack up. Without your help we are not able to hold our races on a weekly basis;
  • Our Club Sponsors, Club Merrylands, Starr Partners, Alpha Security, Merrylands Swimming Squad and Accucom for your kind support during the year.

It has been another successful season, highlighted with great results from our swimmers at club and higher level meets and of course the hosting of another great Merrylands SwimFest meet

Whales Challenge #3

Last Saturday saw the third and deciding Whales Challenge. The Maroon & White teams entered the Challenge with one win each during the season.

Another morning of tight racing saw the Maroon team come out victorious with 1246 points, surpassing 1154 points scored by the White Team.

The Challenge also included a 50 metre Freestyle Skins event. Congratulations to Joseph Assi (Maroon team) who outlasted Tomas Dlesk (White team) to take the points.

Congratulations to the Maroon team on your final Challenge victory and taking the honours for the season
