It's SwimFest Saturday!

The wait is over – the Merrylands SwimFest is here!

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered for a role – especially those members who are just coming along to help.

If you haven’t nominated to help, please see Ian Wilson to do so.

We need assistance setting up for the meet, so we are asking that you arrive at the meet by 11:30am to assist with the setup.

Details of exactly what needs to be done and when are later in the newsletter, but there is lots of setup work to do. Then it all needs to be packed away again at the end. Please make sure you help.

Warm-up starts at 1:00pm with the meet starting at 2:00pm. All the information you need including the timeline and meet program is here. Swimmers need to be ready for the land warm-up at 12:45pm.

Alison and the Club Captains will be organising the swimmers to ensure they get to their races on time. We have 32 swimmers competing in 132 individual events and 5 relays. Relay teams are listed in the Meet Program and are on the notice board at the pool. If you are listed as swimmer 5 or 6 you are a reserve.

Lastly, don’t forget your club uniforms, hats, sunscreen, healthy snacks and drink bottles and good luck to all our swimmers!

No Club Races - Saturday, 17th February

If you are at the pool reading this at 7am and wondering where everyone is, we have good news and bad news.

The good news is, you are early to set up for the SwimFest.

The bad news is, there are no club races this week.

Club Races will be back on 24th February.

Speedo Sprint Series Results

Well done to our team of 7 swimmers at the Speedo Sprint Series last Saturday afternoon. The kids had a great meet with 20 new PBs from 26 races, with every team member swimming multiple PBs.

Well done to Gabriella (3), Joseph (3), Damien (2), Patrick (3), William (3), Samantha (4) Daniel (2) on their PBs.  Daniel also achieved his first Metropolitan QT in the 50m Freestyle.

Whales’ Whispers

Heard around the pool this week:

“…James Mathison is going to swim in the Enhanced Games…”

Hmmm, this may be news to the former Australian Idol host unless he was inspired by James Magnussen’s announcement this week.

That has been broken for ages!

Yep, it probably has, but if you don’t report it, it won’t get fixed. Let Council know of any issues by using the Snap Send Solve mobile app which can be found at: www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/snapsendsolve

Joke of the Week

Q: What dive are pirates best at?

A: The cannonball!

Championship Results

There was some exciting racing in the Breaststroke Championships last week, none more than in the 25m event where 9 swimmers took to the water!

We are looking forward to seeing them in the 50m next year!
