10 Swimmers, 20 Pool Deck Hours, 37 Individual Events, 35 Personal Bests! Fantastic statistics by our team at the Metro South West Short Course Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park this weekend.

We are so proud of our swimmers this weekend for their conduct over what was a very long weekend for our athletes, supporters and coaches. There were so many highlights across the weekend for our team so we've just mentioned a sample below.  It was great to see our swimmers' skills at work, particularly our Junior Squad's Breaststroke pullouts.

Gabriella Assi achieved personal bests in all her events, including an extra 50m Breaststroke PB in her 100m event.  Gabby impressively cracked the 1.20 barrier in her 100m Freestyle for the first time.

Joseph Assi reduced his mark across all distances from 50m to 200m and also reset after a fly-related incident in the 100m Breaststroke to achieve a new personal best time in the 50m Breaststroke.

Damien Chan, having been sick all the previous week, made a strong comeback to play a soccer game, then headed to the pool to set new personal best times in his events. He finished with a huge 9-second personal best in his 100m Freestyle on Sunday afternoon.

Tomas Dlesk kick started the meet as our first swimmer to race, achieving a new personal best in his 100m Butterfly. Tomas continued an amazing streak to finish with a total of 6 new personal bests across 5 swims, with his Breaststroke split being an additional personal best.

Patrick Hannan did a fantastic job being at the pool for over 8 hours on Sunday and started and finished his session with personal bests.  A great achievement considering his last event was a 200m Individual Medley!

Coralie Havea sprinted away to a new personal best in her 50m Freestyle with her first sub-33-second swim and followed up with a classy 100m Breaststroke personal best.

William Johnston reduced his mark in all his 100m events and achieved his first sub-1:30 swim in his 100m Freestyle.

Alison Johnston jumped in for a few swims in between coaching and walking up and down the grandstand all weekend proved to be a good warm-up for her 100m Freestyle, achieving her fastest time in 3 years.

Jay Shrestha achieved a huge personal best time in his 100m Breaststroke, while also achieving a new personal best in his 50m split time.

Samantha Terry commenced her meet with a personal best time in her 100m Butterfly, followed by soccer games and back again for new personal bests.  Samantha finished her meet by cracking the 40-second barrier in the 50m Butterfly for the first time.

Congratulations to all our swimmers on these fabulous results.  Thank you to all our parents for their support and chauffeuring our swimmers to and from the pool all weekend, and thank you to our coaching team of Alison and Peter, who definitely got their step count up over the weekend.

Go Whales!
